Sunset Retreat is a beautifully handcrafted shepherd’s hut, completed in 2019 and thoughtfully designed to offer comfortable self-catering accommodation near Gwithian Beach.

Compact by nature, the hut is well laid out and finished to a high standard, providing a cosy yet well-equipped space. It’s ideal for a couple or a small family, and also makes a great base for outdoor adventures along the Cornish coast.

Two well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. Dogs should be supervised while outside and are not to be left alone in the property.

Outdoor space and location

Set within its own gravelled plot, Sunset Retreat offers ample parking for up to three vehicles. There is a picnic bench for outdoor dining, along with easy access to the beach just across the road.

The entire plot is gated, making it a safe and secure space for younger guests and dogs. An external shower is also provided, ideal for rinsing off sand, salt or mud before heading back inside.

Outdoor bath

An outdoor bath adds a special touch to stays at Sunset Retreat, offering a peaceful place to unwind after a day at the beach or exploring the coast.

Surrounded by fresh air and open skies, it’s especially popular with couples looking for a relaxed and romantic coastal escape.

Accommodation Details

Inside Sunset Retreat

A covered porch area, reached by a few steps, provides sheltered access to the hut. Here you’ll also find a discreet storage cupboard housing a barbecue, drying rack, and other useful outdoor items.

Inside, the kitchen area sits to the left and is thoughtfully equipped with a microwave, toaster, kettle, sink, fridge with freezer compartment, and a full-sized double oven with grill and four-burner hob. There is ample storage space along with utensils for easy self-catering.

A compact wood burner provides a surprising amount of warmth and comfortably heats the entire space. In addition, underfloor heating throughout the hut ensures a cosy stay at any time of year.

Opposite the kitchen is the bathroom, which includes a shower, lavatory, petite hand basin, and an electric towel rail. Despite its compact footprint, the space offers a surprisingly comfortable amount of room.

Living and dining area

A pair of soft chairs are positioned for relaxing and watching the TV, with additional beanbags stored neatly beneath the bed. A fold-down table pulls out from the wall for meals or board games, with four folding chairs stored within the room divider behind it.

Double doors open to the side of the hut, with steps down to the ground, allowing the space to open fully and providing a lovely spot to sit back and watch the sunset.

Sleeping arrangements

At the far end of the hut, the sleeping area is cleverly designed to maximise comfort and space. There is a king-size bed with access from both sides, along with two single beds arranged above, bunk-style, each accessed by its own ladder and separated by a divider.

Storage is thoughtfully provided, with shelving and wardrobe space at the end of the bed, drawers beneath, and additional storage within the room divider between the sleeping and living areas.

Please note that mobile phone signal is limited at the property and may vary depending on network.

At the rear of the plot, a lockable gate provides access to our neighbouring property, Parc Place. The two properties can be booked together, and the gate left unlocked if you wish, making this a convenient option for families or friends holidaying nearby.

Access to Sunset Retreat is via key safe entry, allowing for flexible arrival times. We live just two minutes’ drive awayand are available to assist should any urgent issues arise during your stay.
